Shingles is a rash that is typically found on one side of the body. The rash will often blister, can last up to 30 days, and can and be painful. The shingles vaccine (Zostavax®) works by helping your immune system protect you from getting shingles and the associated pain, as well as other serious complications. It is recommended that patients over the age of 60 receive this vaccine to help prevent shingles. This vaccine is only given one time.

According to the CDC, the flu vaccine cuts the odds of getting the flu by 70% to 90%. A yearly flu shot is recommended for almost everyone.
